In April 2007, KIT digital began working with VIBE to explore ways in which it could use social media to engage and grow its audience, to enhance awareness of the VIBE brand, and to increase advertising revenues. VIBE Media, a leading brand in urban music and culture, used KIT digital’s social media capabilities to power an online hip-hop talent contest in the spirit of American Idol. The total implementation time for the project was less than four weeks. During the three-month campaign, the site attracted more than 60,000 registered members and earned VIBE an 8x return on investment from advertising and sponsorship revenues.
