The first free-to-air commercial television station in South Africa, e.tv announced its plans to launch a 24-hour news channel.  KIT digital helped to design, construct, and integrate two new studio facilities supported by a server-based infrastructure – the first system of its kind in South Africa.  The project also included the build out of two new DSNG vehicles for news and current affairs coverage. KIT digital supplied the majority of the broadcast equipment and completed the turnkey solution with customized control room furniture and equipment racks. To address e.tv’s need to minimize its crews in the field, KIT developed an innovative satellite system to allow e.tv to remotely control vehicles, using affordable off-the-shelf IP networking and switching technology.
