KIT digital helped Channel 4 enhance its 4oD video-on-demand service on the Microsoft Xbox 360. Our UX team were pivotal in designing a user experience that maximized the game console’s functionality, letting users control the 4oD interface with gesture or voice through the XBox’s Kinect Sensor.
Launched in December 2011, consumer demand has been enormous with over 653,000 4oD Xbox applications downloaded in the first 10 days and with paid advertising sold out in only two days. The gesture and voice activated control features are fundamental to the 4oD user experience and set the Xbox apart from other video delivery platforms. Furthermore, it enables Channel 4 to create and grow new revenue streams in the future.
In September 2012 KIT digital received an IBC Innovation Award, recognizing our work as a technical partner to Channel 4 on the 4oD project.
