The Associated Press (AP) uses KIT’s content marketplace platform solution to manage, modify, syndicate, and deliver digital video news content globally. KIT digital edits, localizes, and syndicates exclusive, unedited AP content, including the highly popular Wow!TV service. This localization service involves the dubbing of news, sport, and entertainment content in more than 15 different languages, including the ‘Latin American package,’ a series of news and entertainment clips produced daily and specifically tailored for the Latin American market.  The APTNvideo.net platform is designed to enable website and mobile operators, along with commercial news broadcasters, to browse and download AP news, entertainment, and sports video content in the appropriate format for their individual needs.

AP Television News also commissioned KIT digital to refurbish one of its SD DSNG trucks that had originally been built by the company some years earlier and upgrade it to make it HD-ready.

As part of this refurbishment KIT digital added a new VW Transporter chassis and overhauled and upgraded the RF equipment. Furthermore, new production equipment was installed, at the heart of which is a completely new baseband infrastructure, a Harris Panacea router, a For-A HD vision mixer and a Soundcraft audio mixer. The signal is routed via an Ericsson encoder, Newtec modulator, Xicom high-power amplifier and uplinked via a SWE-DISH antenna — the latter is based on existing equipment that was completely stripped down, repainted before being rebuilt and reinstated on the roof of the new vehicle.

These refurbishments helped AP Television News to reduce its overall costs and increase the productivity while exponentially extending the life of one of its existing DSNGs without having to build an entirely new, costly vehicle.
